如是我聞。

一時佛住舍衛國1衹樹給孤獨園2。爾時具壽3濟歷曼南達感染嚴重病疾4,因此具壽阿難前往佛所,頭面禮足,坐於一邊已,告訴世尊說:

世尊!具壽濟歷曼南達感染嚴重病疾,為了憐憫他,願世尊能前往看望他。

佛說:阿難!你可以代我前往看望他,向他唸誦十種觀修法5,那位濟歷曼南達比丘聽完後病就會好的。

是那十種觀修法呢? 觀修無常想;觀修無我想;觀修不淨想;觀修危厄想;觀修捨棄想;觀修遠離想;觀修滅想;觀修對世間的厭倦想;觀修諸行無常想;和正念出入息。

一;阿難!如何觀修無常想6呢?於此,比丘前往林中,樹下,閒房空地,如是觀修:色是無常,受是無常,想是無常,行是無常,識是無常。如此住於7觀修五蘊是無常。阿難!如是觀修無常。

二;阿難!如何觀修無我想8呢?於此,比丘前往林中,樹下,閒房空地,如是觀修:眼是非我,色相是非我;耳是非我,聲是非我;鼻是非我,香是非我;舌是非我,味是非我;身是非我,觸是非我;意門是非我,意境是非我。如此住於觀修六內處與六外處是非我。阿難!如是於色觀修無我。

三;阿難!如何觀修不淨想9呢?於此,阿難!比丘觀修此身:這個身體,從腳跟上,從頭頂下,為皮所包,充滿不淨,這身體有:發、毛、爪、齒、皮、肉、腱、骨、骨髓、腎臟、心臟、肝臟、肋膜、脾臟、肺臟、大腸、小腸、胃、糞。膽汁、痰、膿、血、汗、脂、淚、膏、唾、涕、關節滑液、尿、頭腦。如此住於觀修不淨於此身。阿難!如是於色觀修不淨。

四;阿難!如何觀修危厄想10呢?於此,比丘前往林中,樹下,閒房空地,如是觀修:此身諸多苦楚,此身諸多危厄,眾多疾病由此身起,諸如:眼視疾,耳聞疾,鼻疾,舌疾,身疾,頭疾,耳疾,口疾,齒疾,咳嗽,哮喘,支氣管炎, 胃炎,發熱,胃病,昏暈,腹瀉,紅腫,腹絞痛,麻瘋,膿腫,淋巴結核,肺癆,羊癲,皮膚病,癢,瘡痂,澀疹,疥瘡,內外出血與黃疸,糖尿,痔瘡,腫瘤,潰瘍;疾病由膽汁所引起,由痰所引起,或由風所引起;四大不調;天氣所引起;自身舉止不審所致;他人加害;業果成熟11;冷,熱,飢,渴,大便,小便等。如此住於觀修此身危厄。阿難!如是於色觀修危厄。

五;阿難!如何觀修捨棄想12呢?於此,阿難!比丘不容一毫慾念生起於心,但求放下,排除,竭止,斷滅它。他不容一毫嗔念生起於心,但求放下,排除,竭止,斷滅它。他不容一毫害念生起於心,但求放下,排除,竭止,斷滅它。他不容任何時候之惡念,不利之念生起於心,但求放下,排除,竭止,斷滅它。阿難!如是觀修捨棄。

六;阿難!如何觀修遠離想13呢?於此,阿難!比丘前往林中,樹下,閒房空地,如是觀修:此是寂靜,此是殊勝14,即是寂止諸行法,放下一切執取15,滅絕貪愛,無執16,涅槃。阿難!如是觀修遠離。

七;阿難!如何觀修滅想17呢?於此,阿難!比丘前往林中,樹下,閒房空地,如是觀修:此是寂靜,此是殊勝,即是寂止諸行法,放下一切執取,滅絕貪愛,滅盡,涅槃。阿難!如是觀修滅。

八;阿難!如何觀修對世間的厭倦想18呢?於此,阿難!比丘捨棄對這世間的執著,捨棄我慢,邪信念,以及對這世間的潛在煩惱,不執取它們,放下,不參與19。阿難!如是觀修對世間的厭倦。

九;阿難!如何觀修諸行無常想20呢?於此,阿難!比丘對諸行生憂患,羞辱,厭惡心21。阿難!如是觀修諸行無常。

十;阿難!如何正念出入息22呢?於此,阿難!比丘前往林中,樹下,閒房空地,結跏趺坐,端身正坐,正念面前,正念入息,正念出息。

長入息,知道我長入息;長出息,知道我長出息;短入息,知道我短入息;短出息,知道我短出息;正念知道我全息23入息,如是善學24;正念知道我全息出息,如是善學。

靜止身行25入息,如是善學;靜止身行出息,如是善學。

體驗喜26入息,如是善學;體驗喜出息,如是善學。

體驗樂27(輕安)入息,如是善學;體驗樂(輕安)出息,如是善學。

體驗心行(受想行)28入息,如是善學;體驗心行(受想行)出息,如是善學。

體驗靜止心行29入息,如是善學;體驗靜止心行出息,如是善學。

體驗心靜30入息,如是善學;體驗心靜出息,如是善學。

體驗心知足31(止與觀)入息,如是善學;體驗心知足(止與觀)出息,如是善學。

心定(四禪)32入息,如是善學;心定(四禪)出息,如是善學。

心解脫33(五蓋)入息,如是善學;心解脫(五蓋)出息,如是善學。

觀察(五蘊)無常34入息,如是善學;觀察(五蘊)無常出息,如是善學。觀察遠離35入息,如是善學,觀察遠離出息,如是善學。觀察滅36入息,如是善學;觀察滅出息,如是善學。觀察捨棄37入息,如是善學;觀察捨棄出息,如是善學。

如此,阿難!如是正念修習出入息。

阿難!如果你前往看望濟歷曼南達比丘,向他唸誦這十種觀修法,那位濟歷曼南達比丘聽完後病就會好的。

於是具壽阿難於世尊所聽完這十種觀修法後,前往具壽濟歷曼南達所,向他唸誦這十種觀修法。

那位具壽濟歷曼南達聽完後,病馬上好起來,具壽濟歷曼南達因此由重病痊癒。

註釋: 1 Savattiyam, 舍衛國。 2 Jetavane Anathapindikassa ārāme , 衹園精舍,衹樹給孤獨園。佛陀在此住了很長時間,並開示了許多佛法。 3 āyasmā, 大德,具壽。 4 ābadhiko, dukkhito, bālhagilāno, 患病,受苦,病篤。感染嚴重病疾。 5 dasasaññā, 十種想,十種觀修法。Aniccasaññā, anattasaññā, asubhasaññā, ādinavasaññā, pahānasaññā, virāgasaññā, nirodhasaññā, sabbaloke anabhiratasaññā, sabbasankharesu aniccasaññā, ānāpānasati. 觀修無常想;觀修無我想;觀修不淨想;觀修危厄想;觀修捨棄想;觀修遠離想;觀修滅想;觀修對世間的厭倦想;觀修諸行無常想;和正念出入息。 6  Aniccasaññā, 無常想。五蘊是生滅法,皆是無常。這是四念處的法念處。 7  viharati, 住於。 8 anattasaññā,無我想。五蘊,六內處與六外處皆是無常,所以非我,無我。這是四念處的法念處。 9  Asubha sañña,  不淨想。kesā, lomā, nakhā, dantā, taco, mamsam, nahāru, atthi, attimiñja, vakkam, hadayam, yakanam, kilomakam, pihakam, papphasam, antham, antagunam, udariyam, karisam, pittam, semham, pubbo, lohitam, sedo, medo, assu, vasā, khelo, singhānikā, lasikā, muttam, mattake matthalungan. 發、毛、爪、齒、皮、肉、腱、骨、骨髓、腎臟、心臟、肝臟、肋膜、脾臟、肺臟、大腸、小腸、胃、糞。膽汁、痰、膿、血、汗、脂、淚、膏、唾、涕、關節滑液、尿、頭腦。三十二身分皆是四大所造,顏色,形狀,氣味皆異,汙穢不堪,故是不淨。這是四念處的身念處。 10 ādinavasaññā, 危厄想。身體常為眾多疾病所危害。這是四念處的身念處。 11  kamma-vipaka,業果成熟。 12 pahānasaññā, 捨棄想。煩惱生起能查覺並捨棄它,這是四念處的心念處。 13  virāgasaññā, 遠離想 。這是四念處的心念處。 14 Etam santam, etam panitam, 此是寂靜,此是殊勝。 15 sabbupadhipatinissaggo一切sabba,執取upadhi,捨棄patinissagga, 放下一切執取。 16 virāgo, 遠離,無執。這是四念處的心念處。 17  nirodhasaññā, 滅想。這是四念處的心念處。 18  sabbaloke anabhiratasaññā, 對世間一切的厭倦想。這是四念處的心念處。 19 te pajahanto, viramati na upādiyanto,  不執取它們,放下,不參與。這是四念處的心念處。 20 sabbasankharesu aniccasaññā, 觀修諸行無常想。這是四念處的法念處。 21 attiyati, harayati; jigucchati, 憂患,羞辱,厭惡心。這是四念處的法念處。 22  ānāpānasati, 正念出入息。這裡以下是四念處的身念處。 23 Sabbakāya patisamvedi, 清淨道論譯為‘全息’ 。 24 sikkhati, 如是善學。 25 Passambhayam kāyasankharam, 靜止身行。 26 Piti patisamvedi, 體驗喜,二禪。這裡以下是四念處的受念處。 27 Sukha patisamvedi, 體驗樂,三禪。 28 Cittasankhāra patisamvedi, 體驗心行。這裡以下是四念處的心念處。 29 Passambhayam cittasankhāra patisamvedi, 體驗靜止心行。 30 Cittapatisamvedi, 體驗心。 31  Abhippamodayam cittam, 體驗心知足。依止觀無所求,故知足。 32 Samadhaham cittam, 心定,四禪。 33 Vimocayam cittam, 心解脫。 34 Aniccānupassi, 觀察(五蘊)無常。這裡以下是四念處的法念處。 35 Virāgānupassi, 觀察遠離。 36 Nirodhānupassi, 觀察滅。 37 Patinissaggānupassi, 觀察捨棄。

Evam me sutam: Ekam samayam Bhagavā sāvattiyam viharati, Jetavane Anathapindikassa ārāme. Tena kho pana samayenā āyasmā Girimānando ābādiko, hoti, dukkhito, bālhagilāno. Athakho āyasmā Anando yena Bhagava ten’upasankami, upasankamitvā Bhagavantam abhivādetvā ekamantam nisidi. Ekamantam nisinno, kho, āyasmā Anando, Bhagavatam etad-avoca: “Ayasmā, Bhante, Girimānando ābadhiko, dukkhito, bālhagilāno. Sādhu, bhante, Bhagavā Yenāyasmā Girimānando ten’upasankamatu, anukampam upādāyā.” ti.

“Sace kho, tvam Ananda, Girimānandassa bhikkhuno upasankamitvā, dasasaññā bhāseyyāsi, thānam kho pan’etam vijjati yam Girimānandassa bhikkhuno dasasaññā sutvā so ābādho thānaso patippassambheyya.”

“Katama dasa?” “Aniccasaññā, anattasaññā, asubhasaññā, ādinavasaññā, pahānasaññā, virāgasaññā, nirodhasaññā, sabbaloke anabhiratasaññā, sabbasankharesu aniccasaññā, ānāpānasati.”

“Katamā cānanda aniccasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu araññagato vā rukkhamulagāto vā, suññāgāragato vā, iti patisañcikkhati: ‘rupam aniccam, vedanā aniccā, saññā aniccā, sankharā aniccā, viññanam aniccan’ti. Iti imesu pañc’upādanakkhandhesu aniccānupassi viharati. Ayam vuccat’ānanda, ‘aniccāsaññā’.”

“Katamā cānanda anattasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu araññagato vā rukkhamulagāto vā, suññāgāragato vā, iti patisañcikkhati: ‘cakkhum, anattā, rupam anattā, sotam anattā, saddā anattā, ghānam anattā, gandhā anattā, jivha anattā, rasā anattā, kāyo anattā, photthabbā anattā, mano anattā, dhammā anattā,’ ti. Iti imesu chasu ajjhattikabahiresu ayatanesu, anattanupassi viharati. Ayam vuccat’ānanda, anattāsañña.”

“Katamā cānanda asubhasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu imam-eva kāyam uddham pādatalā adho kesamatthakā, tacapariyantam puram nānappakārassa, asucino paccavekkhati: ‘Atthi imasmim kāye, kesā, lomā, nakhā, dantā, taco, mamsam, nahāru, atthi, attimiñja, vakkam, hadayam, yakanam, kilomakam, pihakam, papphasam, antham, antagunam, udariyam, karisam, pittam, semham, pubbo, lohitam, sedo, medo, assu, vasā, khelo, singhānikā, lasikā, muttam, mattake matthalungan’ti. Iti imasmim kāye asubhānupassi viharati. Ayam vuccat’ānanda, asubhasaññā.”

“Katamā cānanda ādinavasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu araññagato vā rukkhamulagāto vā, suññāgāragato vā, iti patisañcikkhati: Bahu dukkho kho ayam kāyo; bahu ādenavo. Iti imasmim kāye vividhā ābādhā uppajjanti, seyyathidam: cakkhurogo, sotarogo, ghānarogo, jivhārogo, kāyarogo, sisarogo, kannarogo, mukharogo, dantarogo, kāso, sāso, pināso, daho, jaro, kucchirogo, murcchā, pakkhandikā, sulā, visucikā, kuttham, gando, kilāso, soso, apamāro, daddu, kandu, kacchu, rakhasā, vitacchika, lohitapittam, madhumeho, amsā, pilikā, bhagandalā pittasamutthānā ābādhā, semhasamutthānā ābādhā, vātasamutthānā ābādhā, sannipātikā ābādhā, utuparināmaja ābādhā, visamaparihārajā ābādhā, opakkamikā ābādhā, kammavipakajā ābādhā, sitam, unham, jigacchā pipāsā, uccāro, passāvo’ti. Iti imasmim kāye adinavanupassi viharati. Ayam vuccat’ānanda ādinavasañña.”

“Katamā cānanda pahānasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu uppannam kāmavitakkam nādhivāseti, pajahati, vinodeti, byantikaroti, anabhāvam gameti. Uppannam vyāpādavitakkam, nadhivāseti, pajahati, vinodeti, byantikaroti, anabhāvam, gameti. Uppannam vihimsāvitakkam nādhivāseti, pajahati, vinodeti, byantikaroti, anabhāvam gameti. Uppannuppane pāpake akusale dhamme nādhivāseti, pajahati, vinodeti, byantikaroti, anabhāvam gameti. Ayam vuccat’ānanda pahānasaññā.”

“Katamā cānanda virāgasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu araññagato vā rukkhamulagāto vā, suññāgāragato vā, iti patisañcikkhati: Etam santam, etam panitam yadidam: sabbasankhārasamatho, sabbupadhipatinissaggo, tanhakkayo, virāgo, Nibbānan’ti. Ayam vuccat’ānanda virāgasaññā.”

“Katamā cānanda nirodhasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu araññagato vā rukkhamulagāto vā, suññāgāragato vā, iti patisañcikkhati: Etam santam, etam panitam yadidam: sabbasankhārasamatho, sabbupadhipatinissaggo, tanhakkhayo, nirodho, Nibbānan’ti. Ayam vuccat’ānanda nirodhasaññā.”

“Katamā cānanda sabbaloke anabhiratasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu ye loke upāyupādānā cetaso adhitthāna bhinivesānusayā, te pajahanto, viramati na upādiyanto. Ayam vuccat’ānanda sabbaloke anabhiratasaññā.”

“Katamā cānanda sabbasankharesu aniccasaññā? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu sabbasankharehi attiyati, harayati; jigucchati. Ayam vuccat’ānanda sabbasankharesu aniccasaññā. ”

“Katamā cānanda ānāpānasati? ” “Idhānanda, bhikkhu araññagato vā rukkhamulagāto vā, suññāgāragato vā, nisidati pallankam ābhujitvā ujum kāyam panidhāya, parimukham satim upatthapetvā. So sato’va assasati, sato passasati, Digham vā assasanto, digham assasāmi’ti pajanāti. Digham vā passasanto, ‘digham passasāmiti pajānāti. ” Rassam vā assasanto ‘Rassam assasāmi’ti pajānati. “Sace kho tvam Ananda, Girmānandassa bhikkhuno upasankamitvā imā dasasaññā bhāseyyāsi, thānam kho pan’etam vijjati yam Girimānandassa bhikkhuno imā dasasaññā sutvā so ābādho thānaso patipphassambhayyā’ti.”

Atha kho āyasmā Ananda Bhagavato santike imā dasasaññā uggahetvā yenāyasmā Girimānando ten’upasankami. Upasankamitvā āyasmato Girimānandassa imā dasasaññā abhāsi.

Atha kho āyasmato Girimānandassa imā dasasaññā sutvā so ābadho thānaso patippassambhi. Vutthāhi cā yasmā Girimānando tamhā ābādhā. Tathā pahino ca panāyasmato Girimānandassa so ābādho ahosi ti.
